Aayat is a vocalist from Cairo who has been performing since the age of six. She first began with traditional baladi style singing and then expanded on this to include a range of musical styles including jazz, blues, funk, Arabic music and more. Aayat has performed in many concerts worldwide alongside some of the greatest musicians on different continents. She also performed for various stages on two seasons of Al-Bernameg TV show as one of its main vocalists as well as hosting her own show, Aayats Al-Hob as part of Al-Bernameg's second season lineup. Aayat’s music is a mix of jazz, blues and Middle Eastern elements. She explores her heritage in a contemporary manner by combining influences from both the East and the West. During a 2015 performance at the Sala Theatre in Cairo, Egypt, Aayat was featured in "Al-Masry Al-Ahram Weekly" for her vocal abilities and energy level. She was also described as having “the energy of alternative blues [with] an Egyptian soul” by "The New Arab".
Aayat's first single was released during Ramadan 2015 titled 'Tujhe bhi Ijazat' (I Still Need Your Permission). The song's music video was produced by Houssein Al-Khamis starring Aayat as well as a number of other Egyptian celebrities including Nelly Karim, Maya Gamal, Sahar Abuladl and others. The music video premiered on July 3, 2015. In addition to the Egyptian version of the music video for 'Tujhe bhi Ijazat', Aayat released a different version for her other fans around the world. This version featured a slower tempo and shorter English lyrics because it was made for those who do not understand Arabic. Aayat began working on her first studio album, "Aayat", in the fall of 2015. The album was released one year later in September 2016 featuring 10 tracks. Some of the songs on the album are “Eyy Baba”, “Al Tohy Ennak”, “Ma Bta3adna”, “Esmo3y”, and “Arabi Mariame”. Aayat worked with a number of producers including Ahmed Abdel Munim, who is responsible for her single, "Tujhe bhi Ijazat. ” Aayat traveled to various countries to promote the release of "Aayat". She performed live at different venues including Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Morocco and Turkey. She mostly performed for women only because she feels that most Arabic singers are men. "Aayat" was ranked as one of the best albums of 2016 by numerous music critics. Hiwa Gharbi of "El Watan" ranked Aayat's album as the No.1 Best Albums of 2016 (Females) while Youssra El-Zein of "Youm7 Masr" ranked it at No. 5 (Females).
